Qaboun, together with Duma, Barzeh, Harasta, Jobar and East Goutta make up a belt of suburbs in Damascus Province that encircle the capital from west to east. No fighting had occured in that zone since 2014.
Just a month ago, terrorist groups led by Al-Nusra Front joined to form the so-called Organization for the Liberation of the Levant, and launched continous attacks on those towns and Syrian Army positions in that territory close to the capital.
The infiltrations were rejected. The support lines coming from East Goutta to supply the terrorists were cut off. Now the artillery and the air force are carrying out constant operations against terrorist positions from where the armed groups launch mortars to the points of concentration of the terrorists, who attackedareas of the neighborhood of Tiyara with mortar attacks to nearby towns and the capital Damascus.
Latest of those shelling killed three in Tiyara, and another 12 were injured, besides causing infrastructure damage.
