Gone in 31 seconds! Dubai gang steals jewellery worth Dh2m

Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, praised the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his endless follow-up and diligence on all security issues, and Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for all security issues in order to establish security and tranquility in the country.

This came up during a meeting on the operation named “gold smelting” in the presence of Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation, who congratulated the police team for record speed, confirming the readiness of the criminal investigation team.

Al Marri praised the rapid arrest of the perpetrators of the crime, in less than 24 hours, despite there being no evidence of their identity, as they were wearing masks.

Case details

Three masked men broke into the gold shop in Naif area on Friday at around 5 am, stole jewels worth Dh2 million in just 31 seconds and ran to an unknown location, according to Al Mansouri.

According to Al Mansouri, the shop contained jewellery worth about Dh60 million.
