Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) implemented the Social Space Project at the Somali (Ummadda) National University in Mogadishu.
TİKA created a social space at the Somali (Ummadda) National University, established in Mogadishu in 1976. As part of the Social Space Project, a cafeteria, wooden gazebos, a fountain pool, an outdoor stage, a football pitch, a basketball court, public restrooms, locker rooms, and showers were built on a land of 1,875 sq. meters at the university, which has 60 thousand students.
he opening ceremony held for the social space was attended by Prof. Hassan Omar Mahad Alle, Rector of the Somali (Ummadda) National University; Prof. Aden Guled Shabel, Vice Rector; İlhami Turus, TİKA’s Coordinator in Somalia; Abdirahman Mohamed Abdulle, Director-General of Higher Education and International Education at the Ministry of Education of Somalia; Fatma Eng. Saalihi, Private Secretary to the President of Somalia and a graduate of a university in Türkiye; Muhammed Golemi, a Student Representative at the University; and students.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Rector Mahad Alle thanked TİKA for its support.
