Russian invading forces have decided to create a filtration point in the occupied town of Vasylivka in Zaporizhzhya Oblast to check Ukrainians leaving for Ukrainian-controlled territory, Enerhodar Mayor Dmytro Orlov said in a Telegram messenger post on Aug. 22.

According to the mayor, the self-declared “head of the administration of Zaporizhzhya Oblast” reported the creation of such a filtration point.

Orlov said the residents of the occupied town of Enerhodar have to evacuate through Vasylivka.

On the way out, the invaders deliberately hold back hundreds of cars with civilians, allowing only a limited number of them to leave per day.

“Now they’re talking about a filtration point,” Orlov said.

“And although the Rashists (Russian fascists) themselves assure that they will create a preliminary online registration for entry and exit for ‘quickly passing the queue and the convenience of citizens,’ they don’t hide that the filtration point has another goal – to check Ukrainians, and only they know according to which criteria.”

Vasylivka is the only transit point for residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, Donetsk, and Luhansk oblasts to Ukrainian-controlled territory.

Kilometer-long queues of cars can be seen at the exit through Vasylivka, as the Russians have not let evacuation convoys leave for several days.

A woman recently died in such a queue, according to reports from the occupied territory.
