Joint forces thwart IS plan to attack Samarra
Salahuddin (IraqiNews.com) Joint Operations Command announced on Wednesday, that security forces managed to foil an attempt to attack the city of Samarra.
The Joint Operations Command Said in a press statement, “The Command received intelligence information indicating that the Islamic State extremist group is planning to raid the city of Samarra.”
“After studying the targets, the Joint Operations Command decided to conduct an extensive air strike, targeting the Islamic State group,” the statement explained.
“Iraqi Air Force carried out an air strike, based on information obtained from Falcon Intelligence Cell, on a headquarters belonging to the Islamic State in al-Baida area, killing 15 terrorists, including 10 suicide bombers,” the statement added.
The statement also revealed that Iraqi Air Force conducted another air strike in the same area on a camp belonging to the Islamic State, and managed to kill 25 militants, as well as destroying three vehicles.
