ATurkish Red Crescent (Kızılay) personnel was killed and another injured in an attack against the organization’s vehicle in northern Syria on Monday.
The Turkish Red Crescent vehicle with three personnel inside was caught in the crossfire between two vehicles without plaques and filled with people wearing masks and camouflage clothes in an area located between northern Syria’s al-Rai and al-Bab provinces.
After the attackers escaped, the injured personnel were immediately hospitalized. It is reported that the injured have overcome the life-threatening situation and will be transferred to Turkey for further treatment.
Speaking on the incident, the head of the Turkish Red Crescent, Kerem Kınık, said that he condemns the attack wholeheartedly. It is reported that Kınık went to the province to inspect the incident.
Turkish Red Crescent also released a statement on its official Twitter account following the incident, expressed condemnation toward the attack, underlining that it took place despite the fact that the vehicle had a major Red Crescent logo on it.
