Breaking: Somali political leaders reach preliminary agreement in Dhusamareb

Federal government and regional state leaders meeting in Dusamareb have reached a preliminary agreement on election matters, reports just in say.

A three-item resolution statement is soon expected to be issued, sources have told Somali Affairs.

They are as follows:

1- To ensure elections take place on time, no term extension for the government.
2- To continue looking for a solution on an agreed upon election process

3- To form a ministerial level committee tasked with settling the election model.
This committee may take over the roles and responsibilities of the parliament and the electoral commission on setting the rules for the election process in the country.
