Opposition supporters in different parts of the country on Friday celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to annul Mr Uhuru Kenyatta’s victory in last month’s presidential election.
National Super Alliance supporters poured in the streets of Nairobi, Kisumu, Mombasa and Kakamega, among other towns, waving twigs, chanting slogans and singing songs in support of presidential candidate Raila Odinga as they hailed the judgment.
In Nairobi, crowds that had patiently gathered outside the Supreme Court premises burst into song and dance immediately the judgment was made.

Supporters marched along various streets in the central business district celebrating what they described as a well-deserved win for Mr Odinga after three defeats in previous elections.
Gor Mahia self-styled commander, Jaro Soja, who led a group of youth in marches along the streets, said the ruling served as justice to the families of slain IEBC Information Communication Technology manager, Chris Msando, as well as victims of police brutality.
“The journey to Canaan is unstoppable. We want to tell the electoral commission that this time round, we will not allow theft,” Mr Soja said.
HOPE
In Kibera and Mathare slums, Nasa supporters described the ruling as a light at the end of the tunnel for the Opposition.
In Nyanza and Western, regions considered as opposition strongholds, residents waved twigs as they danced and cheered in the streets.
In Kisumu town, residents marched along Oginga Odinga Street, Kenyatta Avenue, the Kisumu-Nairobi, Kisumu-Busia and Kisumu Kakamega highways in celebration.
IEBC TEAM
Led by Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo and former TNA Secretary-General Onyango Oloo, the team said the entire electoral commission secretariat must not be allowed to conduct the re-run.
“God has triumphed for Kenyans. We want fresh elections to be conducted by an international body like the United Nations and not the Chebukati team. The current secretariat must not be allowed to oversee the fresh polls,” Prof Nyong’o said.

In Nyamira, the youth, mainly boda boda riders took to the streets to celebrate the outcome.
Ms Lilian Bosibori, who was nominated by Amani Democratic party as an MCA, said she was happy with the verdict.
PETITION
In Mombasa, Nasa supporters chanted, “wamenaswa! wamenaswa! wamenaswa!”, the official opposition campaign slogan, as they walked along Nyali Bridge.
In Kilifi, hundreds of Nasa supporters also celebrated the nullification of President Kenyatta’s win.
Governor Amason Kingi said he was elated with the decision, as “the voice of every Kenyan has been heard”.
In Ukambani, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka supporters burst into celebrations.
Mr Musyoka was both the running mate of Mr Odinga and also the second petitioner in the epic petition.
JOYFUL
Earlier, before the judges convened at 11am, residents were glued to TVs in hotels and bars.
Soon after Chief Justice David Maraga delivered the judgment, hundreds of boda boda operators accompanied by taxi drivers celebrated in the streets of Kitui town, hooting as they welcomed the decision.
