Finnish police have added the names of four more individuals to a remand hearing scheduled for Tuesday in Southwest Finland’s District Court, in the wake of a deadly attack in Turku’s Market Square on Friday evening. Four Moroccan men that were detained for questioning are now suspected of being involved with the terror-related crimes, in addition to the main suspect, Abderrahman Mechkah

Police in Finland have added the names of four Moroccan men who were detained for questioning in the Turku knife attack case to the list of people facing a remand hearing in Southwest Finland District Court on Tuesday.

The four others will join the main suspect, Moroccan-born Abderrahman Mechkah, who police request be taken into custody for suspicion of two murders with terrorist intent and six attempted murders with terrorist intent.

Mechkah may make his appearance in court via a video feed from Turku University Hospital where he is being treated for injuries he sustained after being shot in the hip by police on Friday.

The four other men facing imprisonment are suspected of involvement in the murders and attempted murders. The men have denied that they were involved.

The police are conducting an extensive technical investigation and continue to interview the victims and eyewitnesses, an operation they expect will take several days.
